Cameron Automation, located in Poughkeepsie, NY, is a division of the James L. Taylor Mfg. Co. In an effort to service customers and the industry better, Cameron Automation was developed in January 2002 to focus on the development of high tech machinery for the wood working industry.

  • Cameron Automation has introduced another innovation for the Flooring Industry; the Pack Flooring Nester.  For customers that bundle flooring into packs for pre-finishing, the Cameron Automation Pack Nester will bundle and nest random length flooring into packs up to 36” wide and 36” high.  Also, the Pack Flooring Nester can make sure that each layer is a measured bundle from the customer’s specifications so that after finishing, it can be easily packaged without the need to re-measure, nest, and bundle.  This saves time and labor and increases yield.  Gains of up to 2% in yield of finished product can be obtained allowing for a quick payback on equipment.

    Complementing the Cameron Flooring Nester, the Cameron Automation Automated Strapping Line saves labor to the final step in your nested bundle flooring line.  Using a touch screen interface to specify the length of bundles and number of straps needed, the conveyor line automatically advances the nested bundle from the Flooring Nester to the strapping machine, straps the appropriate number of straps and then moves the bundle ahead to the kicker station.  The bundle is then kicked into the accumulating station.  A single operator can manage several systems which reduces labor and increases profitability.

  • The Cameron Flooring Nester creates accurate nested flooring bundles. Graders feed random lengths of material into one end of the machine, and the Flooring Nester releases a consistent, nested bundle of flooring out the opposite end. Most importantly, it creates bundles the exact square footage you want to sell, increasing your profits by up to 3%.

    How Does it Work

    The Cameron Flooring Nester is an elegant, efficient blend of hardware and software. The machine works by doing the following:

    • Measuring strips of flooring, one by one, and feeding the information to the computer.
    • Board information is relayed to the computer, which decides how to use each board.
    • Sending boards which can be used now are sent to the outfeed to build a bundle, while others are stored in our unique scoop storage system.
    • Strips of flooring the computer decides to use now are accumulated in the outfeed into rows. Rows are accumulated until a layer is made.
    • Layers are stacked until a finished bundle is made. Finished bundles are pushed to a waiting conveyor, ready for strapping.

    Combine Flooring Nesters on the same outfeed conveyor and strapping machine to increase productivity. This allows a single operator to manage multiple machines and keep your strapping and stacking operation centralized.
