Reliance Flooring is only manufactured in-house, providing consistent color and quality of all rifted and quartered white oak hardwood flooring. In-house manufacturing also means consistently longer lengths as well as many wide widths.
Rift and quarter sawn floors are beautiful and distinctive. The unique look of quarter sawn hardwoods lend itself to an array of design styles, from traditional to modern. Beyond the look, this flooring offers advantages to the flooring installer because of its dimensional stability.
Rift and quartered flooring expands and contracts less across the face than plain sawn. This is because radial movement is less than tangential movement in wood so movement from the center of the log to the outside of the log is less than the movement across the circumference of the growth rings or tangential to the circular pattern of the rings.
As a result, the rift and quartered floor planks are less likely to cup, twist and warp. In addition, the variation in width from seasonal changes is less than that of plain sawn flooring. The dimensional stability of helps the installer install faster and easier because there are less problems with and side bend or width variation in the planks.
